Not everyone likes to date, but a good date can change everything. But what does dating mean? What happens after the first, fourth or twentieth date?

I wish I had a rulebook when it comes to dating, it would make things so much easier. But in the meantime, our lives can be too simple. Where’s the fun in analyzing and spilling the beans to friends? What else can we talk about? Global warming? Politics? We need something lighthearted to throw around, so none of us know the answer to what dating means.

What does dating mean? The Real Guide to Dating

Some guys go on one date with me and they assume we’re exclusive from then on. When I was dating other men, but I wondered why it took us so long to be exclusive.

Despite the tragedy of my dating life, and despite the fact that I failed miserably, I’ve learned a few things about the dating world. These things will help. So, let’s take a look at what exactly dating is, and what it isn’t. It’s not easy to figure out, but once you do, it’s pretty easy.

#1 There is no set definition. In the real world, there is no set definition for people to follow. Some people date one person at a time while others ride the dating merry-go-round. Some people take dating seriously while others are very casual and have no intention of committing to anything.

#2 Dating and Relationships. You may be wondering what the difference is between dating and relationships. Good question. The biggest difference between the two is that people in a relationship commit to each other.

Whether it’s formal or not, both parties decide not to date other people and stay exclusive. Sure, people have open relationships, but that still means they are loyal to each other.

#3 It’s about getting to know each other. You need to get to know someone before you start a relationship, right? That’s what dating is all about, it’s a time for you to try and see if you get along. If you really want to spend time with them on a regular basis. Dating is all about seeing their habits when you talk and laugh. You know, getting a glimpse of what they are supposed to be like.

#4 It can include sex. Look, Phil doesn’t want to say that dating includes sex. But, during a date, you can have sex. Sure, you’ll go to dinner, hiking, movies, but you can also have sex with them. I mean, why not? But that doesn’t mean you’re in a relationship, so don’t confuse it. You’re still just dating.

#5 You can date more than one person. If you’re dating, you can be dating other people at the same time. Although, after a few dates with one person, you should tell them you’ll be dating others so they know where you stand. Dating doesn’t mean you need to date one person. If you want to go on three dates with three different people, then go for it.

#6 You introduce them to your friends. If you go on a couple dates with this person, you introduce them to your friends. I mean, you’re dating them, why not introduce them to your friends. You don’t have to if you’re only going to go on a couple dates with them. But after a few dates, it’s good to introduce them to your friends. That way, they get a peek into your life and vice versa.

#7 You’re relaxed around them. There should be no pressure when you are dating someone. Remember, during this time, you need to get to know your date. If you are constantly nervous or anxious around them, it’s not a date. Dating should be relaxed and enjoyable.

#8 No expectations. When you are in a relationship, there will be some expectations that come with it. This is normal because you are in a committed relationship. However, when it comes to dating, you shouldn’t have any expectations. You’re just getting to know each other, so don’t expect a relationship to build from that.

#9 Hitting on someone doesn’t count as dating. I know you may think you’re dating someone, but it doesn’t mean anything if you hook up with someone. Hooking up is a broad term, but it’s usually very loose and casual.

So, if it just means that you slept together and only met this person for sex, then you’re not dating. Dating means you do leave the bedroom.

#10 Dating is about the future. Sure, dating is fun, but the reality is that we go on dates to find a future partner. I know that sounds serious and intense, and it actually is. The only reason we spend so much time dating is to find someone we want to be with in the long run. Otherwise, we’d be hooking up with people for the rest of our lives.

You don’t have to ask yourself what dating means anymore. Read these tips and memorize them so you won’t be confused on your next date.
